The Ecumenism and Interfaith Relations Ministry is part of a larger diocesan Ecumenical Commission based on John 17:20-21  “I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us,[a] so that the world may believe that you have sent me."

As a parish community, we seek Christian unity through relationship: walking, praying, and working together.  In addition to ecumenism for Christian unity, the Catholic Church is increasingly aware of the importance of initiating friendship and respect with other faith communities of non-Christian religion in “an attitude of openness in truth and in love, … in spite of various obstacles and difficulties, especially forms of fundamentalism on both sides. Interreligious dialogue is a necessary condition for peace in the world, and so it is a duty for Christians as well as other religious communities” (Evangelii Gaudium, 250).
